Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Information

Our OCR Scanning Services allows typewritten documents to be converted into readable and searchable ASCII text or PDF documents.  Full-Text OCR is nothing more than an extra step in the process of converting your paper into a PDF.

All OCR’d material should always be scanned at 300 dpi using a software package like Kofax. Kofax produces clean tiff images which are then OCR’d using dynamic OCR engines like, Caere, AEG, or Recostar. Once this process is set up, the end user need only wait for the totally automated process to run.

We use a spell checker to auto correct the OCR’d data to ensure good data. Data can be released in many formats including, Word, Excel, ASCII Text, and PDF.

Use OCR when basic indexing is not enough

When basic indexing is just not enough, Full-Text OCR Scanning Services may be the answer. Virtually, any typewritten document can be converted electronically. Whether those documents reside on paper, microfilm, microfiche, or slides; OCR can be used to produce fully searchable ASCII text.
