Document Scanning System Integration
Systems Integration
Custom building a document scanning system can be tricky and costly proposition. Industry standard hardware and software should
always be used. Training and support is crucial when purchasing such a system.
As a service bureau and document scanning systems provider since 1997, I strongly urge buying only from providers who use the
equipment and software that they resell. If they use it, it must work well. The only way to truly appreciate how to use any software is to use
it.
A systems integrator who only sells software and hardware can only guess as to how it is best used. Someone who uses the products
he or she resells can really offer insight as to how those products are best implemented.
A scanning system consists of much more than just that of a scanner and software. Your integrator must train your people to use
the system to its fullest potential. Time must be spent at your place of business to determine what type of system will work best for your
company. Only then can components be picked and configured for your unique operation.
Your staff must be trained on the following: Building new processes, Scanning and Importing documents, indexing, searching and
retrieval of materials, and so much more.
Software and Hardware to be considered first
- Bell and Howell
- Fujitsu
- Kodak
- Captaris (Alchemy)
- Kofax
- Anydoc
- On Base
Supporting the systems sold should always be your number one concern. I have seen installations that have gone unused because
know one in the company was ever trained to use the system properly. It’s up to the integrator to make sure any customer has the ability to carry
out an imaging project on their own. If we new you did not have the proper staff to implement an imaging system, we simply would not sell you
one.
If you need help after installation and training, we provide on-site support.
